Catholic HEART Workcamp is committed to minimizing the risks associated with COVID-19. Our aim is to make your trip both life-giving and safe. CHWC will adjust policies based on the recommendations of the CDC/local governor.
CHWC Covid-19 Protocol
- CHWC strongly encourages participants to be fully vaccinated but it is not required for attendance.
- Groups will be mixed together with other parishes to form work teams. If requested before the start of camp, parishes may stay together and form their own small groups.
- Participants will be reminded and encouraged to wash their hands regularly and maintain appropriate sanitary practices while at camp.
- Mask mandates will be based on each school/location. CHWC managers will communicate directly with contact leaders regarding their locations requirement. YM’s will be asked to regulate their own youth groups in the wearing of masks.
- Program and Mass will be organized with the health and safety of all participants in mind including appropriate daily ice-breaker games and the distribution of Holy Communion.
- CHWC will retain a medical professional (either locally, or an adult camper) to be accessible to respond to any concerns regarding COVID.
- CHWC staff will be routinely disinfecting frequently touched areas/surfaces/objects throughout the camp week.
Covid-19 Symptoms:
- Fever or chills (+100.4)
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
Should anyone experience one of the symptoms listed above:
- Monitor
- Notify camp nurse
Should anyone experience more than one of the symptoms listed above:
- Isolate in separate room on site
- Youth Minister to contact parents and verify permission to test (if under 18)
- CHWC will aim to provide rapid testing on site. However, if not available, transportation to acquire a test and any costs associated will be the responsibility of the parish/parents.
- CHWC staff cannot drive campers to testing location
Should anyone refuse to be tested:
- Camper will be required to isolate and arrange departure from camp
If rapid test is not available:
- Camper will be required to isolate until test results are received
If results will not be received by the end of camp:
- Camper will be required to isolate until the end of camp. CHWC will recommend early departure from camp via transportation that is separate from youth group. However, parish/parent will ultimately decide on travel arrangements
Following a positive result:
-
- Camper will be required to isolate and arrange departure from camp
- Notify health department
- CHWC will follow recommendations from the health department (including, but not limited to, an entire group needing to depart camp early)
- Should anyone have to quarantine beyond the duration of camp, all travel and housing arrangements and costs will be the responsibility of the parish/parents
- Supervision will be the responsibility of the parish, as CHWC staff will not be available to extend their week beyond the scheduled departure date
- Should a camper under the age of 18 be required to stay beyond the duration of camp, a chaperone arrangement will be the responsibility of the parish
